It all starts with five deep breaths

Before you think you’ve heard this one before, give our version a try.

  1. Think about something you want (inner peace, focus, happiness…) and inhale to bring it in. Let the positivity of it wash over you.

  2. Think about something you don’t want (frenzy, worry, racing…) and exhale to let it go. Imagine that thing leaving your mind and body. Your breath is pushing it away.

  3. Repeat twice.

  4. On the next inhale, focus on the positive again. This time envision it settling into your mind and your body.

  5. When you exhale, see that positive thing going out into the world. See it spreading out over the people you love and people you don’t even know.

  6. Repeat as many times as you’d like.

  7. If anything in particular pops into your mind during this exercise, make a note of it. There might be a reason you thought of it. Later, take some time to focus on that and decide whether or not you need or want to do anything more with it.
